And what exactly is the proper term then? It's pixelation. And I'm rather aware of the wacky Japanese laws in how censoring the evil vagmoo goes, but to actually censor the gore is really pathetic. I've seen those types of pictures before and I don't get it.

All the artist did was multiply parts of the images, surely there's a way to "reverse" the process. I'd be pretty pissed too if my art was censored because of the country I lived in.

You forgot the simplest method, by inverting the color. Which can just be as easily fixed as reverting it back.

Just look at the picture, just how do suppose one can "reverse" it? You think the original picture is "under" the mosaic? Or maybe the original picture's data is somehow still in the picture somewhere? If you can't think of a way on your own then it's blind belief that it's possible.
