Not everyone may know about the "Scary Stories" books but they had some wicked drawings that were all so creepy and just beautiful. If anyone has those books can you scan in a few of your favorites?

Those were excellent books. Really the first part of my childhood that got me into 'darker' things.

The Slithery-dee,
he came out of the sea;
He ate all the others,
but he didn't eat me.

;p What a set of books! They have them collected in hard cover now.

I was just thinking about these today. I still have these books. I used to push them on to my friends when I was a kid, we all loved them. I remember being so scared of that smiling fat lady drawing.

So...many...memories! They had these books in my freakin' 4th grade class! When I saw the cover of a Scary Story book with a skull in clown makeup growing out of a hill, I knew I was staring at a classic :D

<3...I remember the stories being mostly kind of lame (lots were just rehashed folktales if I recall) but the illustrations really were lovely and genuinely creepy - the story that scared me the most was one called Harold, about a scarecrow...

That was the first book I saw. Delicious.

Are they hard to find? I assume they aren't, being pretty recent and all.

I wonder how many then-children were 'twisted' or realised their 'dark predelictions' due to these books?

"Harold" was one of my favorites too. If I recall correctly, someone gets skinned in that one.

The books aren't hard to find at all. Any major bookstore should have them. They were pretty popular back in the day. Like 6 just said, they released the whole set in hardcover a while ago.
