Reeve, having escaped from Shinra’s prison cells before Midgar’s downfall, was living out his life peacefully in Wutai. His alter ego, Cait Sith, was back at Gold Saucer, telling fortunes once more.

The Highwind landed off the shores of Bone Village. Cloud and company got off and began searching for the appropriate monster. Yuffie stared off into the ocean from a rock on the beach. When would she bring glory and materia to Wutai? Would Cloud ever give up his materia now that Sepheroth was dead? She heard Cloud yell at her from a distance. Tifa climbed down the ladder to see what was taking so long. Cloud turned around. “Guys. I...” He began. Tifa finished what was obviously too painful for Cloud to say.
“Yes, Cloud. We can go see Aeris.” Cloud smiled.
