Standardizing the boards? (13)

I'm just curious, perhaps this has been brought up before, but I've found it (over the years here) really frustrating that the Request board opens the images up on the same page while all the other boards open them up in new windows/tabs. It's lead to countless times that I've accidentally "X"ed out of Gurochan entirely being so used to "X"ing out the new tabs all the other boards create for me.

Is there any way the moderation of Gurochan might see to standardizing this or is there some mysterious reason/logic behind having the Request boards operate differently than the others?

I second this, an demand explanation for why the request board seems to be on a different track than all the other boards.

You don't have to demand. You can just ask nicely.

I honestly don't have an answer for you, but it seems like a silly thing to complain about. If you're in Firefox, there's the History tab. Not much else I can really do for you.

Just right click and open a new window. That's what I do. I also run Firefox.

also, if you're on a mac you can just hit option/apple as you click and it opens it in a new tab

Hey Mod, I WAS asking nicely... at least I thought I was. And yeah... I know there are work arounds to reopen closed tabs... or to open images in new tabs by selecting from a right click menu... It's just curious though... why NOT standardize the boards and make ALL the pictures open in new tabs? You still never answered the question of what /req/ is set up differently than all the other boards on this site!

Stop crying about something so pointless.
Why does it matter so much?
If you don't like, no one cares.
Set up your own chan if you don't like the non-standardization of this one.

Just like /dis/ and /lit/, /req/ is running Kareha instead of Wakaba. This is because Kareha requires you to enter a title, and you can easily search through the thread listing for what you want. It also deals with long threads better (for example you can tell it to display the last 50 posts, saves time and bandwidth). I can easily move threads from the regular board to the archives, as well.

As for the images, >>4 and >>5 are right. If you want links to be opened up in new tabs, tell your browser to do exactly that when you click links. I'd rather have people choose themselves than forcing them to open everything in new windows/tabs.

Rather than setting Kareha to open links in new tabs, I'd remove that behaviour from Wakaba. I might get around to do that sometime.

>I second this, an demand explanation ...

A demand and a request are not the same thing.

As has already been said, 'Right Click > Open Link in a New Tab'.

Middle click on the image works faster, so your fat finger don't have to perform 2 tasks. That is if your mouse has a wheel.

I love it because it strengthens my middle finger. :|

>>10 You use your middle finger to click the mouse wheel? I use my index finger. Interesting, very interesting.

Sometimes I will click it with the middle finger and sometimes I will just press it with the index finger. It depends on the mood.

Usually I use my middle finger when referring to the church or my ex.
But that's just me.

For me, it's easy enough to remember not to close the window if I see the sidebar.
