Hey guys. I was just wondering how you guys sort out your Guro?
Do you do it by style, artist, 2d, 3d, types of violence or rape, age, hair color?
Traditionally its done in folders but some new OS *COUGH*vista*COUGH allows you to put tags on images. Do those tags carry over when you upload it to an image board?
I have a history of downloading images in batches and sorting them by site/board/Thread title and theme. It usually works, especially since 80% of content is pretty much reposted from other boards. Especially among the english speaking chans.
Are duplicates acceptable for you guys?
For example, two duplicates of an image goes under gore and vore. Or do you have an efficient tag system set up so when you're in the mood for impalement, you can do a search for impalement and you get all that you wanted?
The reason I ask is because I'm on XP, used use Vista, and despite how bad everyone says it is, I got used to the image tagging.
And right now I only have 5 GB of Guro that I personally downloaded myself onto my laptop, and I'm having a heck of a time sorting it all out, especially since the majority of image boards give new filenames when they're uploaded, leaving it to the enduser to relabel it to their end uses. I also have a two hundred something GB imageboard science experiment to deal with after this, and compared to 5 gb of pure images, its going to be a bitch to sort out.
So I'm looking for a little help soring it all out.
So what is everyone elses's experiences with all this anyway?
I don't use any tagging, just sorting the file by themes, basically after I downloaded lots of picture I browse and put them into two folder; selected and unselected. The unselected didn't need to be filtered further, it just stay there in my hd. The selected then categorized again by its theme. Duplicates are acceptable in this case.
I dump it in one big folder and tag, though I can't decide what's guro and just ero half the time. I've also started to add more specific tags (drowning, amputation, etc) and descriptions, too
Mh, I have vista too, never tried the tags though. Maybe I should.
I sort my pics in different folders, similiar to the categories here. So there are "gore", "freakshow", "ryona" and "scans".
Although my collection is pretty big, I usually know where to find a specific pic - I guess, I spend to much time browsing them.
I have thousands and thousands of images and all but a few hundred are actually sorted in any way. The rest are just bundled into untitled folders within untitled folders within untitled folders.
I'm sorting a huge archive now by four categories:
/f/ - freaks
/g/ - gore
/s/ - scat
/e/ - epic (Nevada-Tan, Evangelion, Elfen Lied, Silent Hill, Bikko, etc.)
/x/ - other shit not belonging here
Each has subgenres, such as /f/detachable_bodyparts/ or /g/skullfucking/.
I'm a big dork about sorting my folders. I have my little system worked out, and I go through every month or so to obsessively re-sort and clean up, and just look at everything. It's basically sorted by boards, and then by specific topics like 'rape' and 'eyes'.
Haven't tried the tagging yet--might be wayyy more efficient.
