A homosexual is someone who is attracted to the same sex. Key word being attracted to. Simply having intercourse with the same sex does not count. Homosexuality/heterosexuality is your sexual orientation, who you are attracted to. Generally speaking, this has nothing to do with who you see yourself as.
In the case of Gender Identity Disorder, or Transgendering, the lines become blurry. Now you start to see yourself identifying in a different role in life. Many GID/Trans people are attracted to the same given sex, while many others are attracted to the same taken sex.

To answer your question with my own words - Does it really matter?
You are becoming your own person. This may or may not fit into societies oft used and abused labels. My best advice to you is, simply flip society the finger, and become who you are, and be comfortable with who you are, whether 'they' look down on you or not.
