Where the fuck are the mods? (45)

1 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 12:40 [Del]

There has been a picture of a dead cat on /g/'s first page for over three days now. Are any of the mods even here? /f/ is also currently hosting a lovely picture of a mister A. Hitler, could I get that taken care of too?

Would it be to much to ask to have mods that visit even once a day?

Also, as a note to those retards who respond to the real gore pictures. Put a damn sage in the link field so you don't bump them! I see half a dozen people complaining about the post, and fucking bumping it while they do it.

2 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 12:52 [Del]

The mods are dead, dead dead dead. Dead. I think.

3 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 13:22 [Del]

Don't reply to those threads at all, not even with sage.
Also, moar mods nao!

4 Name: Pure : 2008-08-03 14:18 [Del]

I come here everyday.
Anyone who is a mod should be able to do that at least.

5 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 15:11 [Del]

Well it looks like the cat thread has been taken care of, which is good. There's still some spam floating around, though.

>>4
As do I. I feel the same way.

6 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 15:12 [Del]

These threads have just disappeared.

The picture on /f/? It was a fapping Hitler. It seemed more like a weird rigged photography than nazi propaganda. It wasn't a furry hitler after all.
The -real- burning cat thread was quite annoying though.

Not dead - I am just arround somewhere else without my PC.

There are so many mods... don't know what the rest is doing...

Emergency modding boards I didn't even volunteer with.

9 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 19:22 [Del]

I'm a mod. I come on here nearly everyday, or at the very least, 3 times a week. I'm certain plenty of people are not accounting for timezones; I'm on Pacific Standard Time, and I'm simply incapable of being near my computer 24/7 to look and see if there's one post out of line.

I look through the first 2 pages of both /f/ and /g/ every time I'm online. Nearly every time, I find something worth deleting.

I think the problem isn't that there aren't enough mods, but that people are unable to follow simple rules. Our job isn't to act as policemen, it's to act as moderators.

Additionally, you're feeding this passive-aggressive behavior by complaining about it. Bumping threads with unwanted material is also not constructive.

10 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 19:25 [Del]

>>9
Maybe we should try to find some non-American mods, then? To get other time zones represented?

11 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 19:27 [Del]

Posting in addition to what I just said, is the general attitude that you'd like a more strict moderation? Should I start deleting threads completely composed of /r/? Give me your opinion.

12 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 19:30 [Del]

>>10

Yes, I think that's a good idea. I'd like to find out how many of the mods from the ones that were picked are still active, also.

13 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 19:40 [Del]

>>11
I don't know about anyone else, but as long as obvious trolls and spam are dealt with everything is fine with me. I've never had much of a problem with /r/ threads, though I can understand why some people do.

I mod /s/ and /p2p/. Unrelated picture or no picture at all = instant deletion, no matter what is being asked.

As long as relevant material is flowing in and the OP is contributing, 'requests' aren't really a problem, as they are keeping the boards active (if they aren't overwhelmed with them).

I'm on GMT +1 and browsing the two boards above several times a day, every day. Knowing who mods what would be very helpful in order to find out which boards are lacking in mods.

I'm the poster of >>9 and >>11.

I mod /f/ and /g/. I delete unrelated threads, pictures that aren't within the rules, and any drama inducing content. I can increase the amount of times I come on everyday, but I'm experiencing some IRL problems at the moment (I'm moving).

18 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 21:07 [Del]

Holy shit, mods are now going overboard, and deleting willy-nilly. Please, at least read and try to understand the context of threads before deleting posts.

19 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 21:10 [Del]

>>18

>deleting willy-nilly

Why? I personally liked the willy-nilly thread.

20 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-03 22:16 [Del]

Op here, thank you to the mods for taking care of the threads I mentioned. Re-reading my post, I sounded a bit pissy. I'm sorry for that, but seeing RL gore doesn't agree with me.

In regards to >>11, one concern I have it poser pics. There was an argument in /req/ about whether poser is suitable for gurochan. The rules say in no uncertain terms that non-drawn pictures are not allowed, but in practice I've never noticed poser stuff being deleted by mods.

I don't like poser, but many people seem to. If we could get an 'official' opinion on it one way or the other, it would stop most of the arguments. It seems to me that either the wording of the rules needs to change to allow poser pics, or mods need to enforce the non-drawn rule. Ignoring that rule for poser encourages posters to post other things that are not allowed, such as RL pictures, photo manips or furry.

Seconding this request, and hoping for a ban on Poser material.

22 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-04 00:05 [Del]

You're kind of missing the point here.
If no-one had created this thread and complained in the first place, how long would it have taken for the material to have been deleted?

A week? I don't think that's so unlikely.

Anyway, I'm sure most of us understand that people on the other end do have a life (generally) and can get busy and tied up with things but a lot of the behavior is because idiotic threads keep appearing in all boards, and especially here.

This attracts more people who think it's okay to do that type of thing and almost nothing is being done to rectify that.

So the problems have been increasing for a long time now and will continue to do because the general populace of Gurochan is seeing stupidity in here and new people are thinking it's okay to act like that and to post crap elsewhere.

Banning trolls that post in /dis/ shouldn't really be that hard and would solve a lot of problems.

Just my two cents.

>>22
I agree completely.

Also, I think we need threads like this once in a while. Nothing like a slap in the face to wake them up.

Thirding a request for an official opinion.
There are a lot of arguments over poser 'art'.

25 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-04 02:52 [Del]

>>24

The majority of poser art is bad, yes.
But sometimes it's done very well, such as the fairy one a while back.
That was excellent and loved by many, even people who normally hate poser art.

Stop whining you fucking faggots.

It's people like who are trying to get reactions from people that are trolling that we're talking about here.
This just means more come.

28 Name: Pure : 2008-08-04 19:45 [Del]

If the chance to be a mod ever comes up again, I'd love to give it a go. I like gurochan too much for it to become like 4chan.

I wouldn't want a mod with a face who's not neutral in his posts.
Mods should be anonymous at all times when they post, otherwise they would get a reputation and it would have an effect on the posters. And thats the exact same reason i don't like namefagging and posts that aren't sterile either, i.e. smiley's, bad grammar, large amounts of internet slang and so on.

30 Name: feindflug : 2008-08-05 11:14 [Del]

>>29 Huh? How would you know if someone's a mod?
If I was one, I wouldn't tell, because of the reasons you stated before. Mods should be neutral.
It's not important who is a mod, it's important there are mods. Maybe I am one..you'll never know.

>>30
Thanks for proving my point.
Names. They create feelings, and it will have an effect on the posts. On an imageboard like this, names fuck things up, and especially if the mods were namefags. Names create a source of fear, hate and affection. People stop regarding someone as just a person if they use names and say something smart/stupid. It will become more like a forum, which it isn't.
Its best if it stays sterile.

32 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-05 12:34 [Del]

To prove 29's point even further, some of the named mods are pretty obvious just because of their bevahiour.

Also, this thread is not about volunteering as a mod. It is about checking whether there are active mods - and it seems to be the case.

33 Name: Miu : 2008-08-05 13:00 [Del]

Holy fuck...now I'm gonna stay away from /g/ for a bit. >____<;;
Poor baby kitty...

Hopefully that gets taken care of.

36 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-05 19:35 [Del]

Also, someone needs to combine all the threads in /g/.

37 Name: Anonymous : 2008-08-17 18:35 [Del]

There are pictures of a hacked up dead woman on /g/. Please delete them asap.

Also, this /f/ thread starts out with a real pic of a woman with a dead octopus stuffed in her vagina, please delete it as well.

Thread:

Bump because those two threads are still there, and the morons in /g/ keep bumping it.

Thank you to the mod or mods who took care of >>37 and >>38.

Of course. Trolls are turned to stone via sunlight, so it's logical that they only wreck havoc after nightfall.

They're here again, please delete
