So do people that complain about western art just hate shitty western art (deviantart, ect.) or ALL western art? Do some people really think that anime art (including the shitty kind seen throughout 4chan) is superior to ALL other art ... even classical art?
No. Not at all. It just so happens that the majority of Gurochan's population likes to see cute girls getting slaughtered, and not something realistic looking that western art tend to be. And anon also tend to be nijikon.
I don't mind western art, japanese art, korean art.. There are styles I like und styles I don't like, some pictures are badly drawn but the content is stunning - these are even better than perfectly drawn pictures with no innovative thoguhts.
But hey, opinions may differ - all fine with me.
If you think a picture looks like crap, don't post it - that's what common sense should tell you.
I hate western art with a passion, being a nijikon and all, but I wouldn't go around bragging that anime art is superior either. Because that would be stating my own opinion, not an universal fact.
Art is art, and like feindflug said rather well, opinions may differ. You've got to respect how other people react to it.
I just hate the crappy CG-model stuff, and somewhat the western comic-book style, the rest is okay.
Great thread with respectful opinions. :) More and more now the barrier between certain styles are blurred; you see a lot of Japanese artists using a Western style and vice versa. I enjoy a lot of Japanese-styled art, and a lot of Western-styled art, but above all I appreciate when the artist has a style unique to their own.

AS FAR AS THE ART GOES
I'm really not one for the anime style, I'm more of a realistic, or less "toony" person. But there's not much OBVIOUSLY guro art in the more fine arts style
I don't think that anime is superior at all...honestly...I like it because it makes it easier on the animators, but as far as artists go, I don't like it, because I know its easy.
And I just hate SHITTY art, whether western or not.
For example, if an american tries to do a bad adaptation of japanese anime, and posts it, I feel like pullinng out my hair.
but as far as deviantart goes, there's some really good stuff there, and no always by an asian.
