Saw Series (20)

What does Gurochan think about the Saw series?

The reason I ask is because I have heard the two were related.

Um, I don't see where you get "related" from, but I liked them. They weren't my favorites and it's definitely a case of the sequels getting worse, but I did like them.

It's really only the "diabolical trap" aspect of them that would make them any more gurochan-interesting than any other gory horror movie, though.

They're my favorite movies. Don't get on my case, fellow gurochanners, please~! I don't like overthinking things too much, I just wanna enjoy them. And they're better, in terms of gore and creative deaths, than most movies I've seen. But yeah, the sequels did get progressively worse, I'm not gonna deny that one.

If we're at guro-related movies:

Anyone's seen Repo! - The Genetic Opera?

I think it's an awesome piece of art and direction, I especially love the industrial atmosphere and the whole gory organ-business theme. And yes, it's a musical, but I think it's one that every gurofag with interest in RL gore should watch at least once. Good story, morbid humor, wicked characters, great plot...

SAW 1 was a fairly decent film.

The rest of them relied on using as much gore as possible to engage and shock the audience, needless to say they turned out shit.

This, but if anyone thinks Saw is the high point of creative deaths and gore, they need to learn to look beyond Hollywood. Shame that awesome thread with lots of guro-interest films has sank off the board.

there've been a whole bunch of threads on film recommendations, and they're easy to find, just CTRL+F search

I suggest you look into the Guinea Pig series

Of, the thread I was thinking of I'd seen most of the films tbh, and usually when those threads come up there's nothing new.

Thread was thinking of, for people that need to watch something other than Saw.

I had my hopes high, but it let me down.
Didn't like most songs, gore wasn't gore enough, not enough Sarah Brightman, too much Alexa Vega. Oh and they cut out my favourite, Needle to a bug.

Tastes differ.

Yeah, they wanted to give some credit to the Graverobber's narrative character, that's why they cut out those two morally questionable scenes.

I like most songs, it's a nice mix of industrial and opera-style. And of course, since it's a drama, there's lots of drama in it.

they were alright, though they got expontentially worse as the series continued. I like some good story with my guro.

My problem with most horror films is the story. No... not that I think the stories are bad (though they often are), but the fact that they have a story at all. All practical, real-life business and demographic needs aside, I usually just fast-forward horror films to the parts where people are getting killed. All the stuff in between is a waste of my time. I have even gotten full movies just to see one particular death or something. This is the reason why I don't necessarily mind bad plots or acting, as long as the deaths are good.

I liked the feeling of anxiety the movies can give, also the originality of the tortures. It's something original, in one certain way. Also, the atmosphere is pretty cool.

>>10 For what it is (a non-mainstream, former 10 min short), Repo! is amazing...Sure Alexa Vega got on my nerves, but 'Thankless Job' and the ending made everthing better...Yeah, not too gory, but it's something I could watch again and again because-gasp!- it actually has a plot that causes you to think...

Hey if you really want guro, look for "Murder, Set, Pieces". It supposedly a very hardcore movie. I watched the trailer & it looked it was a no-holds-barred & uncensored. From what I saw it had ALMOST everything, a sadistic mas, loads of chicks with nice boobs & a dungeon full of every torture device on the planet. I'd check it out, but I'm feeling a bit woozy from watching "The Flowers of Flesh & Blood"... (=__=)
